What is the Fruit Loop?

In the most literal sense, the Fruit Loop is an area of downcity Providence with several LGBTQ+ bars and nightclubs in downtown Providence, all within fairly easy walking distance of each other. I've been using the name since about 2006, though I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure where I got it from and it's probably older than that!

In a bigger sense, the Fruit Loop could be described as our local queer social circles! It is the thriving LGBTQIA+ community of Providence itself. A celebration of queer joy in the smallest big city in the country.

And in the sense of this site and our social media pages, it's a resource to help us find each other, support each other, and celebrate each other — to lift up our voices together and magnify our impact and our visibility.

Hi, I'm Graham.

To be honest, I was being a little petty when I created this. Some of my friends could just never remember which events we were going to on a given weekend so I made this page to help them remember. (In their defense, there's often a lot of options!)

Despite that origin story, Fruit Loop PVD has grown into something really spectacular — a reflection of how truly incredible the LGBTQIA+ community of this city is.
